Our Charities for 2010
Beginning with our February 2010 BMR meeting and continuing up to and including our October meeting, we will be collecting/donating new items for WEAVE’s Wish List providing supplies for the Safehouse. A spokesperson for WEAVE has been invited to come to our meetings and give a short overview of these programs and provide receipts (if you wish) for the items you donate.
It is WEAVE's goal to provide as many things as possible to the survivors staying in the Safehouse to make them feel comfortable and safe. The list below are items that we are currently running low on or lacking completely.
- Large Ziploc bags
- Plastic wrap
- Tupperware
- Liquid laundry detergent
- Liquid dishwashing soap
- New underwear and bras (all sizes)
- New PJs women (all sizes)
Slippers for women (all sizes)
- Rolls of paper towels
- Strollers
- Baby formula
- Diaper wipes
- New kitchen towels
- Packaged meat
- Dairy products
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Liquid hand soap
- New, washable full and twin bedspreads
- Inspirational DVDs, Children's DVDs, DVD player
- Sugar
- Tampons
We will also be collecting gently used and new items for WEAVE’s Suited for Success Program. A lack of professional clothing is often an obstacle for survivors of domestic violence seeking to reenter the workforce. Through WEAVE's Suited for Success program, survivors are able to regain their confidence.
This program provides the survivor with over $50 worth of professional clothing and accessories, interview advice, and job skills consultation. Those who graduate the program are empowered to go back to work and reenter society as financially independent individuals.
Senior Gleaners, Inc.
A percentage of our two major fundraisers, The Art & Wine Event and the Golf Tournament, will go to Senior Gleaners. We will be presenting a check to the Senior Gleaners, Inc., at our November meeting to help support this worthy organization. |
